Esbjerg is young at heart. Esbjerg is an informal and straightforward town to study in with lots of offers, yet with a pronounced informal atmosphere pervading the study environment and the institutions of higher learning.
Short-cycle and medium-length study programmes have existed in Esbjerg for years. Now two universities are also well-established in the municipality with a profusion of study offers. More and more students are discovering Esbjerg as a town of study and choose to settle here to pursue their studies.
Five major educational centres
Altogether, the five major educational centres – Ålborg University, Esbjerg; University of Southern Denmark; Business Academy South West; The Academy of Dramatic Art and Music; and University College South Denmark – offer more than 60 programmes of higher education.
Some of the study programmes are found elsewhere in Denmark while others are more unique to Career Country. The latter is true of a master’s programme in international tourism, sports and event management; a master’s engineering programme in oil and gas technology, operating technology and technical offshore management; and the University of Southern Denmark’s Maritime Research Institute.
Research and development channelled to the business community
A research and development park (Forsknings- og Udviklingsparken Vest A/S) is located in continuation of the universities and Business Academy West at Uddannelsessletten (Education Campus) and aims to ensure that research results are further developed and channelled to the business community, which increasingly appreciates collaborating closely with the employees of tomorrow. In addition, there are several research centres within plastics and the maritime and offshore industries that generate synergy with the business community.
