for children and adults
Esbjerg Theatre District organises between six and ten different performances a year. Many performances are presented jointly by the New Opera House and the Royal Theatre of Denmark. ”The Brothers Karamazov”, ”The Barber of Seville” and ”The Importance of Being Earnest” are examples of the performances presented by the Royal Theatre in Esbjerg in 2007. The New Opera presents classic and modern interpretations of famous operas. In 2007, ”Siegfried”, the third of four operas comprising the ”The Ring of the Nibelung”, was performed.

Theatre for children is performed at the theatre for children and youths (Børne- og Ungdomsteatret), and every summer a large production, like “Peter Pan”, is also performed in Nørreskoven Forest. All the roles are played by children and youths who love theatre. The productions are directed by seasoned professionals, like famous Danish performer Jesper Klein who directed the production (in Danish) of “People and Robbers of Cardemon Town”. If you want to experience a rewarding revue, Esbjerg’s own “Tobakskuller” is worth seeing. It runs every year from mid May to mid June.
